July 9th - Largest Outdoor Quilt Show sponsored by Kaufman Fabrics

Largest Outdoor Quilt Show - Sisters Oregon July 9th

2016 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show™ Presented by Robert Kaufman Fabrics

Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show™ (SOQS) is internationally recognized as the world's largest outdoor quilt show and quilt sale displaying more than 1300 quilts representing fiber artists from around the world.

More than 10,000 visitors from all 50 states and 27 foreign countries flock to Sisters on the second Saturday in July. Master quilt makers teach classes and workshops during Quilt Week and exhibit their quilts at our annual Quilt Show. In addition, hundreds of quilts are displayed in our "show-and-tell" exhibits - first time quilters, youth, quilts made by men - throughout the town of Sisters. Quilt exhibitors range in age from 10-92.

Solo Exhibit at Soft Expressions Features Sharon Jaeger's Patterns

Members of Quilts on the Wall enjoyed a bird themed solo exhibit by Artist Sharon Jaeger.  Retired from a highly technical engineering career, Sharon knew her love of birds would lead her her second love, art quilting.  Sharon creates finely pieced backgrounds for her main subject  - birds.
Sharon was encouraged to design patterns so her whimsical patterns could be enjoyed by all. Sharon's husband actively supported her solo exhibit, picking the first piece visitors saw as they ascended the stairs at Soft Expressions.

The President's Challenge for May 2016 was Radical Symmetry.  Members brought in 12x12 projects with their interpretation of the theme.

Committees are being formed to expand the Quilts on the Wall exhibits.

The July meeting will feature Jane Dunnewold. Check out her website and bring a guest to the meeting.    Jane will also teach a class...but it has been filled, so don't miss the lecture.
