Artist Entry Form on the Website

I just uploaded a new form that can be filled out on the website for all the challenge and special exhibit shows. This should help speed up the paperwork process and take care of handwriting interpretation issues.

Log into the Info Center and go to the Forms section. At the top will be the "Artist Entry Form". Click on the title and the form will open. Fill it out and/or save it to your computer or print it out directly.

This form will clear if you close it, so print it the number of times you need it if you don't save to your computer. My suggestion is to save the form to your computer and then you will have it available when ever you need it.

***If you would like to save the filled in form you have to "print" it as a PDF. If you don't have a PDF printer already installed on your computer you can download a freeware version from CutePDF. This is the one I use. There are others out on the web if you want to use one of the others.***

If used for different events, just print the PDF form under a slightly different name. This will give you a history of your entries into shows and will help when deciding on your label information.

Hope this helps everyone.

2013 Juried Exhibit Selected

It is official, we have a new topic for our juried exhibit that is due in March. "Maps" was voted on by the members out of an ABUNDANCE of submitted ideas. There were several that I found personally inspiring and I am happy with the selection.

It will be exciting to see what the membership submits for this exhibit. It seemed to have a lot of interest by the enthuastic voting.

A suggestion was put forth that since "Maps" is due in March that we bring the in progress work to the November and/or January meeting to inspire others to keep working on their pieces. We had such a strong exhibit with "Black and White with a Twist" that the bar is set pretty high.

Wasn't it great to find out that the B/W exhibit will be traveling to Houston. Comments from Carmen and Amanda were extremely positive and that it was a strong exhibit. Way to go QOTW!

See you all in November if not sooner.

Don't forget that Textures will be having their exhibit at the Merc in Temecula opening October 5th (artist reception night). The local quilt guild will be having their annual outdoor show on October 6th so you could make it a two-fer and also enjoy some of the local wineries and dining.

Hangar Opening

There was a fabulous turn out for the Quilts on the Wall reception on Saturday night at the Santa Monica Art Studios Hangar gallery.  The QOTW opening coincided with those of other artists at the Hangar that evening, which helped draw in many art appreciating viewers.  Deborah Weir, Annette Guerrero, and Susan Willen coordinated the quilts beautifully to create flow and balance for viewing.  Thank you, ladies!

The Santa Monica Art Studios Hangar Gallery, across from the Santa Monica private airport, utilizes long wide hallways along with several other areas for gallery spaces in a building mostly used as artist studios.  The building has high ceilings in what used to formerly be an airport hangar.

Cafe Aroma Exhibit

David and I are very excited to be invited to participate in an exhibit with Helene Lohr at Cafe Aroma. The exhibit was installed last week. The manager, Frank, is very happy with how it looks and Helene said it was getting a lot of interest from the patrons that were in Cafe Aroma while they were installing the exhibit.

There will be an artist reception on Sunday, June 12th, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. I hope that if you have that afternoon free that you will join us in beautiful Idyllwild. I have looked at the menu of Cafe Aroma and it looks wonderful. Fresh air, great food and art quilts. What more could you want? Oh, wait, I know MUSIC! The 8th annual Jazz festival will also be happening that weekend. If you can’t make it on Sunday, the Jazz festival runs from the 10th to the 12th. Come up earlier for the music and still see the exhibit.

The show will run for two months, until the end of July. Helene just called to say that 3 pieces have sold.

Diamond Valley Arts Council Exhibit

A few of us from Quilts on the Wall and the Temecula Textures group have some work at the Diamond Valley Arts Council show. They have a limited schedule but if you get a chance, you should check it out. There are some great pieces on display. Thanks to Phyllis for providing pictures of the show. I hope you enjoy a little peek of what is on display.

The main hours are Monday and Wednesday from 10am to 4pm. Other days are open on flex schedule so call before if you are going to be in the area on other days. Phyllis will probably have more information as she is a docent on some of the exhibit days.
