2013 Juried Exhibit Selected
It is official, we have a new topic for our juried exhibit that is due in March. "Maps" was voted on by the members out of an ABUNDANCE of submitted ideas. There were several that I found personally inspiring and I am happy with the selection.
It will be exciting to see what the membership submits for this exhibit. It seemed to have a lot of interest by the enthuastic voting.
A suggestion was put forth that since "Maps" is due in March that we bring the in progress work to the November and/or January meeting to inspire others to keep working on their pieces. We had such a strong exhibit with "Black and White with a Twist" that the bar is set pretty high.
Wasn't it great to find out that the B/W exhibit will be traveling to Houston. Comments from Carmen and Amanda were extremely positive and that it was a strong exhibit. Way to go QOTW!
See you all in November if not sooner.
Don't forget that Textures will be having their exhibit at the Merc in Temecula opening October 5th (artist reception night). The local quilt guild will be having their annual outdoor show on October 6th so you could make it a two-fer and also enjoy some of the local wineries and dining.

Fiber Art at The Santora
Teresa Shippy – Fiber Art at The Santora
My sweet Gary assisted me in hanging my artwork, or should I say I assisted him. We had fun chattin with Ellen, one of the co-directors for the Avantgarden Gallery. Very cool to have my fiber art displayed here in my hometown of Santa Ana, California. Gifted artists are wonderfully represented here. Many thanks to OCFA for providing all of us with fantastic opportunities. If you are in the area, please stop by and visit for a while, be sure to grab a bite at Memphis @ the Santora. Hangar Opening
There was a fabulous turn out for the Quilts on the Wall reception on Saturday night at the Santa Monica Art Studios Hangar gallery. The QOTW opening coincided with those of other artists at the Hangar that evening, which helped draw in many art appreciating viewers. Deborah Weir, Annette Guerrero, and Susan Willen coordinated the quilts beautifully to create flow and balance for viewing. Thank you, ladies!
The Santa Monica Art Studios Hangar Gallery, across from the Santa Monica private airport, utilizes long wide hallways along with several other areas for gallery spaces in a building mostly used as artist studios. The building has high ceilings in what used to formerly be an airport hangar.
