Our Illustrious (and shrinking) Lovely Treasurer Jeanette Kelly has her own show goin' on a thte Whittier Central Library! Her show Opens Oct 4th and runs thru the 29th. Her reception is October 9th also but from 2PM to 4PM.

Memeber is Jeanette Kelly featuring fiber work. The actual show is in Pomona from October 7th thru the 31st! Artist Reception is Sat Oct. 9th from 6PM to 10PM. HOLY COW Jeanette! No wonder you're doing so well on your slim self with all this runnin' around!

Fall Fiber and Fashion Exhibit NMexico!

Linda Friedman has had the following four items juried into the Fall Fiber and Fashion Exhibit at the Fuller Lodge Art Center in Los Alamos, New Mexico, that will run from October 1 through November 13, 2010. Three were art quilts and one was wearable art, as follows:

"Escape and Return" (21 3/4" x 28 1/2" art quilt)
"Undersea Rhapsody" (24"x35" art quilt)
"Wildfire: Tribute to Wildland Firefighters" (16"x27" art quilt)
"Boro" Style Quilted Jacket (after old Japanese "Boro" or rag quilt concept)

Quilts on the Wall Members – It is TIME!


Time that is to gather up all your wonderful new works and get them ready to be part of this years’ Whittier Framery Gallery’s exhibition,

QUILTING IS ART
October 1-31st, 2010

Emails with the details for the call for entry have gone out, but just in case you missed them please just let Deborah Stanley or Cynthia Catlin know and they’ll make sure you get a copy.

Cynthia is heading up our efforts, and Rose Hughes has also stepped up to assist in helping us put together a great exhibition. You’ll want to also keep in mind that this gallery is an excellent venue for other items as well…dimensional pieces, smaller bin works, cards and jewelry (properly packaged & ready for display) may all be shown to advantage here.

This coming Saturday, at our normal meeting is the best time to get your works turned in.

Fiber & Book Art Exhibition

Mary Tabar, Deborah Weir, jo griffith and Mia Bloom have artwork in this exhibit!

Archeology

The Archeology Challenge quilts will be exhibited in Cincinnati, Ohio at the Quilting, Stitches & Craft Expo, Sharonville Convention Center, from September 9 - 11, 2010. Details at http://www.qscexpos.com/ .

Deborah Weir

Deborah Weir will be exhibiting several of her art quilts and mixed media embroideries at the Hangar Gallery at the Santa Monica Airport Studios (3026 Airport Ave. S.M. CA 90405) September 4 - October 2. Opening hours are W-Sat. noon-6. There is a BIG shindig opening event on Saturday, September 11 from 6-9. (She will be there from 7-8 for sure!) Please come by if you are anywhere in the neighborhood.
